So much for getting down on Friday.
Rebecca Black's much-mocked viral video hit, "Friday," has been pulled from YouTube after more than 167 million views -- that's more than half the U.S. population -- due to a dispute between the singer and the music company she paid to produce her song.
If you try to watch the video, a message now says, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black."
According to PopEater, Ark Music Factory was experimenting with a paywall system for watching music videos on YouTube. Fans could watch the first 1:54 of "Friday" before seeing a screen prompt to pay $2.99 for watching the rest, unlimited, for a mere 72 hours.
The dispute also stems from reports that Black and her mother cut ties with the record label after claiming Ark was selling an unauthorized ringtone of the viral hit. They also said Ark Music Factory never gave them master copies of the original recordings.
The song and video became the most "disliked" video on YouTube as users mocked the vacuous lyrics ("We we we so excited," "Gotta make my mind up, which seat can I take?") and parodies appeared everywhere.
