wowee it sure has been a hot minute since i was able to do an original english cover eh, boys? i've wanted to cover this song ever since freddy showed it to me like 2 or 3 years ago and haven't done it because of my microphone issues. so i was FINALLY ABLE TO.

also i made a logo/intro jingle! hope you guys like it. this song was really challenging but a blast to sing. i love any song that lets me be theatrical with it.

and now to talk about the lyrics and how i interpretted them for my english translyrics:

so, i think that this is the story of a girl who was neglected as a child. her parents ignored her and she didn't really have many friends, and so she had a deep and all consuming need for attention, which she internalized as her not being good enough. so she started pouring all her efforts into being what everyone wanted her to be. all the while feeling as though she'll suffocate without the praise of her peers and teachers.

as she continued to get older, the need for adoration that holds her prisoner stays the same. the same collar that has choked her and dictated her every move since she could remember, but now that she's older it's tighter than ever because people expect more from you now that you aren't a kid.

and for that reason she winds up turning to sex for the gratification because it's a very easy way to get the words she needs to hear to feel alive. but despite everything she does to excell, it will never be enough to make her feel truly validated because she wasn't inherantly good enough to be loved as a child and she knows that all of this is a show she puts on to feel worthwhile.

or maybe it's just about a cursed collar, who knows.
