After years of seasoning, college, breakups and makeups. God brought together a team of talented young men from all different sides of the spectrum.
The connection goes all the way back to our high school days when Malcolm Tariq was singing in a group around town to watching his brother Christopher Aaron take music to anotha level, or Bryon Sims making the marching bands jump with his arranging skills, or Branden Turner turning heads with his singing ability. We never knew each other personally but we were in each others path until the year 2003 when Malcolm graduated from Full Sail recording arts school and God brought part of his plan together. Starting out just making beats in Young Draes living room, we began molding our talent from just making beats to making smash records.
It didnt take long before the name Vintage Muzik began circulating the streets and the radios in Columbus, GA.
After hooking up with such people as Tony Mercedes and some of the talented artist in the city we felt like we got stuck in one genre and werent growing so after many long stressful days we finally made the sacrifice and moved to Atlanta GA.
Once we made it to atlanta Malcolm began engineering at a top level studio called ZAC Recording were he met and assisted people like Busta Rhymes, Polow Da Don, Mario, Usher, Rodney Jerkins, Rich Boy, Teddy Bishop, label execs. and many more. Not knowing then that God was only setting him up and putting him in the same peoples faces that he and his team would soon be making records with.
After only three and a half months of working there and being in atlanta we were introduced to the Hitmaking Teddy bishop. Teddy was impressed with the professionalism and talent that we possesed and immediately brought us into the studio. It wasnt long before Teddy wanted to add us to his brand GrooveFactor Ent. and there we changed our name to Urban RockStarz with an addition to the team, the hot WAVES!!! We are now working with upcoming artist and established like Letoya Luckett, Universal Motown arist LONDON, Dallas Austins new group JUST A GIRL, DTP's boss lady SHAREEFA, Chili of TLC, I-15 of Interscope/Zone 4 Records, Megan Rochell, Dave Young, Bobby Valentino and many many more. So now officially being signed to GrooveFactor our world has just started turning and theres so much in store for us. All we can do now is thank God and travel this journey.
***2009 UPDATE*****
This has been a phenomenal year thus far. Urban RockStarz has placed records on albums such as Yung Joc 'The Grind Flu', K'Jon 'I Get Around', Killer Mike 'UnderGround Atlanta', P Live 'Coming To You Live'. Malcolm Tariq also has had the oppurtunity to engineer and mix on projects such as Yung Joc where he mixed 14 of the 18 songs and recorded several, He engineered on Bobby Valentinos hit record 'BEEP', He also engineered the record on Killer Mikes album.
Also to add to our repertoire is sound design and music production for the MTV Movie Awards, MTV VMAS, Dru Hills Platinum House pilot and many more.
