JUST A GIRL

Charlie is a unique, spunky artist/songwriter who brings an undeniable amount of inventiveness to the forefront. Born, September 26 1987 in Jacksonville, Florida music has always been a driving force in the prodigy's life. Growing up she was inspired by a diverse group of performers such as Donna Summers, Cyndi Lauper, Janet Jackson, Tina Turner & Madonna. Also, her mother is an accomplished jazz singer and skilled instrumentalist. Having such a close, heavy influence inspired Charlie in numerous ways. "I like to think of my music as a piece of art work, a painting, with the colors representing the different genres of music and coming together to form my sound, with the painted picture."In 2006, Charlie moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Once settled, she formed the jazzy group "JUST A GIRL" where she also provided the lead vocals. The trio worked extremely hard and were eventually signed by Dallas Austin and landed a contract with his label Rowdy Records & Universal Motown. After 3 years of performing together collectively, the ladies decided to part ways into different solo endeavors."It is very important for me to write because it allows me to candidly express about my life and things I've faced." Currently, Charlie is living in Los Angeles, California and continues to pursue music by penning songs for other artists as well as being the lyrical genius behind the crafting of her solo debut under her new label home, DMG (Don Music Group).Her sound is innovative and advanced. "I am music, without me there is nothing."
