In a world where many musicians find it difficult transitioning from a well-known band to solo artist and fronting a new band, Vince Herman, formerly of jamgrass pioneers Leftover Salmon, seems to have found his niche. In his 15 years fronting Leftover Salmon Vince scoured the country juggling over 150 shows a year and ultimately satisfying the people’s needs for the perfect festivarian act while staying true to his bluegrass roots.

Vince has played and participated in almost every major festival across the country including 9 appearance at High Sierra Music Festival, 10 times at Telluride Bluegrass Festival, All Good festival 3 times as well as a long list of others including Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Austin City Limits festival, Jazz Aspen, Beale Street Music Festival, Summer Camp, and the HORDE tour.

Today, the recent hiatus of Leftover Salmon has opened the door for Vince Herman to revisit the road and provide aid to his fans’ addiction to good ole’ Cajun Americana pickin. In 2005, Vince Herman tested the waters of his solo performance by combining that Cajun Americana sound with a hysterical mix of improvised lyrics and unique originals. One of the truly impressive parts of a live Vince Herman performance is his ability to seamlessly float from hysterical songs of gibberish that get the crowd pumped up and dancing to songs filled with politically profound messages. On stage Vince does what come naturally to him: delivers a unforgettable performance filled with witty humor, smooth guitar licks, and amazing improvised lyrics while pairing this all with amazingly strong song-writing.

In recent years Vince heads a new band playing a unique blend of “Americana without borders”. Great American Taxi touches on the roots of good ole Americana while also hitting elements of Roots, Funk, Rock and full flavored country. Taxi was originally formed as a band to play a one-off Rainforest action Group benefit in 2005, almost 4 years later and with 1 album under their belt and another on the way; signs point to Taxi continuing the ride.

In 2007 Leftover Salmon announced their return from hiatus. Vince spends time with his Salmon brothers for a few special “reunion” shows each year while focusing the majority of his time with Great American Taxi and on solo adventures. In addition to playing all the major festivals with Salmon and Taxi, Vince has become a staple MC for many of the top festivals in the country. He has also become an outspoken activist for both local and national politics bringing a voice to a new generation and community of politico’s. Vince Herman has withstood the test of time and proves that he will remain a fixture on the musical, festival, and political scene much to the delight of his fans all over the world.
