Villex passive mid boost for guitar (rotary version) . - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 26, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
NOTE 1: I made a 2nd Video with distortion. This one's clean only.
NOTE 2: Some of the increase in volume the booster brings was eaten up by the camera and youtube compresssion. Sorry.
In other words: the volume boost is not drastic but definitely more noticeable in real life than you would think from the audio here.

The pickups are hand wound low to medium output, so "vintage", not "hot" or "blues". The amp is a Fender Blues Junior slightly modified, too.

I have had the Villex booster for a couple of years now. It is one of my favorite modifications. I have one in a Tele with Joe Barden double rail pickups and the sound is similar to what you hear above. You can think of the positions on the rotary as slightly but progressively hotter versions of your already installed pickups.
I didn't do distortion tones here but the sound becomes more humbucker-ish with a slight addition of cocked wah in it.

I have only shown the last position on the rotary switch. The other positions are slightly less dramatic versions of this plus a bypass setting.
