PUBLISHED:  Sep 02, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
The United States Marine Band plays "Crazy Bone Rag" on Victor 35380-B, recorded 22 March 1914. The machine is a Victrola XII, the first table-model Victrola, introduced in 1909. This is the earlier of two models; the later model has a decorative frieze along the upper edge of the cabinet. Both models have a very small horn opening compared to other Victrolas. It has a mahogany cabinet and gold-plated hardware; the mechanics are identical to the top-of-the-line outside horn Victor VI and the Victrola XVI floor model. It was discontinued in September 1910 when the Victrola X and XI were introduced.
