Mark Bernes was a Soviet actor and singer,who performed some of the most poignant songs to come out of the World War 2.He was the first Soviet crooner.After the war,he continued to perform songs about the war.In 1968,Mark Bernes was dying from lung cancer.At the end of that year,he recorded his last song Ballad about the Cranes,which became his testament before death.This Ballad was played at his funeral.He recieved People's Actor,awarded the USSR State Prize,two orders and many medals.
