South Florida native and longtime Nashville session and touring guitarist Gary Hooker (Brad Paisley, Dave Loggins, Gary Morris, Steve Kolander) discovered that a long lost first cousin was performing as a blues musician under the name of Howlin' Buzz in the Tampa Bay area. The two had not made contact in forty years. Hooker obtained a Howlin' Buzz CD and was impressed with his singing and harmonica skills. Hooker then reconnected with Buzz and proposed that they record together. When Buzz agreed Hooker began to collaborate with songwriter James Stevenson.

Buzz brought into the project a friend, blues guitarist Cape Hall from Detroit. A perfect foil for Hooker, Hall was instrumental in working out song arrangements with Hooker, Stevenson and Buzz. The services of some great Nashville session players were enlisted as well, On drums and percussion Paul Snyder (Vassar Clements, Vagrant Saints), on bass Charlie Gonzalez (The Dillingers), on keys Reese Wynans (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Boz Scaggs, Delbert McClinton), on mandolin and fiddle Patrick Clark (Darius Rucker), Additional drums, bass and guitars by Herb Shucher (Leon Russell, Bugs Henderson, Randy Travis), CJ Kowall (Gary Morris, Vagrant Saints) and Chris Condon respectively. Background vocals were performed by Vickie Carrico (ZZ Top, Don McLean, Dobie Gray, Patty Loveless, etc) and Barbra Thompson.

Music produced by Gary Hooker. Recorded by Michael Saint-Leon (George Thorogood, Joe Louis Walker, Buddy Guy, James Cotton) at Switchyard Studios, Nashville TN. Photos by Rick Malkin and Cape Hall. Video by Ken Lamb and Steve Chandler at Videolady, San Bernadino, CA.

The project was named in honor of Buzz and Hooker's grandmother Jewel Stone Hooker.
