Flow Vinyl's latest release comes just in time for the Spring club and Summer festival seasons. The labels 55th offering features the long awaited debut of SQL to the Portuguese imprint. Amsterdam-based Pim van Horssen aka SQL has a very impressive discography with appearances on Funk D'Void's Outpost Recordings, Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital and GEM Records. His debut EP for Flow Vinyl is entitled 'Velour' and it comes with a remix from Wehbba.
The lead track features SQL at his all time best. Dynamic beats combined with waves of percussion lay down a wicked groove early on. As the breakbeat rhythms and hypnotic sensibilities of the mix continue to build a buzzing tension fades to the forefront which carries the track in to a brilliant middle section. The rolling tones create a wonderful wave of harmony and when the full groove comes crashing back in your sure to get a massive response on the dance floor.
The lone remix is provided by Wehbba who is making his first appearance on Flow Vinyl. Rodolfo Wehba aka Wehbba is much loved for his productions on Tronic, Systematic and Bedrock. The Brazilian producer has done a masterful job with his 'Velour' interpretation. In slowing the tempo down and creating a chunky groove with dark, brooding overtones Wehbba has provided the ultimate compliment to SQL's more uplifting original. Definitely one for the darker, more clued up dance floors.
Also included on the release are two additional originals the first of which 'Velvet' is a funky, disco infused bomb that's sure to be devastating on the dance floor. The EP's final cut is a collaborative piece in conjunction with Tom Real who last appeared on Flow with his remix of Danniel Mehes 'Shoya' which was released in April of 2013. Together Pim and Tom have crafted 'Fabric' which ends the EP off with a minimal yet funky vibe that's loaded with character. A superb debut for SQL on Flow Vinyl and another smashing release for the Portuguese imprint. Highly Recommended. Release Promo Hype Chart #1
