Goldband Records, founded in 1945 by Eddie Shuler in Lake Charles, Louisiana, was up until 2005 the longest standing independent record label best known for its classic Cajun and R&B recordings from the 50's and 60's. Goldband was the first to record Dolly Parton at the young age of fourteen, with her tune "Puppy Love" and released other acclaimed Cajun artists Sidney Brown, Rockin' Sidney, Jo-El Sonnier, and Freddy Fender, some of which are still rocking to this day.
