Valdemar Eiberg's Jazz-Band - In A Little Rendez-vous - 1925 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 21, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Danish jazz pioneer Valdemar Eiberg (1892-1965) was the first to make jazz records in Denmark. The first session took place in August 1924. Eiberg's Jazz-Band only made 14 titles from 1924-26 - and four of these were never released.

Eiberg were among the first to play saxophone in Denmark, he originally was a banjoist, but when he formed his band in mid-1923 he had moved to alto sax. When his Jazz-Band recorded in 1924-25 the line-up was as follows:

Willy Seehuusen, Vilhelm Gaaser (tp), Hjalmar Hedstrøm (tb), Kai Ewans (as), Valdemar Eiberg (c-melody sax), Frantz Petersen (p), John Lange (bj), Ingvard Jepsen (brass bass), Anker Skjoldborg (dm).

The records by Valdemar Eiberg's Jazz-Band are extremely rare today - and are among the most sought-after by collectors. Of the five records released this is the only one I have in my collection.

"In A Little Rendez-vous" was recorded in Copenhagen on January 12, 1925.
Notice the trumpet player at the end of the record - it's not one of his best days...!
