Ideologically Urgrund exalts heathen irreverence and defiance in all its forms: barbarism and the glorification of destruction/war (essential to rebirth and evolution) Studies of historic facts (periodic timelines), Antichristian-ism, heathenism, European occultism, existence, philosophy, war, death, classic fire and brimstone, secret societies etc The aggressive music blend with strong parts in subject matter and integrity is what moulded this band …This is what separates the band from oh so many concept bands that stagnate. URGRUND was founded in 1998 by Rob Scavenger The demo recording "In Apocalyptic Ruins.A Rebirth" was released in 1999 and is no longer available, "WARLORE" 7" EP was recorded in July 1999 (Bleed Records, limited. to 200), (RHFiendsickness joins to handle second guitar and vocal parts) "DRENCHED IN BLOOD" MCD was recorded/mixed June 2000 (French label SPIKEKULT Records, limited 500 copies), brings the first two years of Urgrund together, containing the four tracks from the 7" as well as a re-recording of "In Apocalyptic" Urgrund rounded up 2000 with the recording of their debut full-length album, "THE GRAVEN SIGN" (released February 2002 on BAPHOMET RECORDS/RED STREAM, taking both the raw, berserker aggression and anthemic war marches in one Live dates alongside some of Australia’s extreme acts served to reinforce Urgrund's reputation as one of the most destructive bands The "BATTLE SKIN 7" EP was produced 2003. for the now Irish Kult label INVICTUS, This features a Sodom cover, Ausgebombt… “UNCHANGEABLE FATE”, the second full-length is released in June 2005, and was recorded November/December 2004. This being another monumental effort of thrashin’ black/death inspired in yer fist metal.consisting of dark elements and war torn imagery/disasterDue to uncertain and cursed line up issues it was always a task to get the band to tour….However, it was never a problem for the band to punish forward as there was always a driving force. URGRUND Marches on, consisting of R.Scavenger (guitars/vox), C.Volcano on thunder (ABOMINATOR/ex-DESTROYER 666) M.Possessed (guitars), AD Barathrum (IGNIVOMOUS) on bass.The ‘DISCIPLES OF SUPREMACY’ 2007 album unleashes chaos once again into a more darker path lyrically, holding the power surge and triumphant fist raging strike and a more Death Metal based sound. Era 2007-2009 saw a few live rituals around Australia. Matt Skitz known for his work with Sadistik Execution, Destroyer 666, Cemetery Urn, Funerary Pit, Insidious Torture steps in to be the new drummer.
In closing 2009 The Ep “Heirs To The Godless Dawn” is recorded and released on IRON BONE HEAD RECORDS (Dec 2010), which is a snippet of what’s yet to come for the official next release, yet to be spawned and scheduled for early 2011 and out on DEATHRUNE RECORDS.
