Hubert Kirchner is a true studio beast and perfectionist. After releasing a few singles on renowned label Traum it is now time for his first full EP on morgen.am. For this big step he wanted to broaden his musical boundaries by showing both his warm and cheerful and his more serious and deep side. The resulting two originals have different grooves but share the true Hubert Kirchner sound.
The first original, Jules, is a track made in contrast to the more deeper emo music we know from Hubert. Inspired by his grandfather Jules' art, the track has a touch of hope. It starts energetic with a rolling beat accompanied by gentle chords. During the break a catchy and lazy melody is introduced that sticks after listening. A feel good anthem well suited to dance floors throughout the upcoming spring and summer.
MSTRDM, the second original, refers to the inspiration his hometown Amsterdam provides to producers. It first takes you away with different pads following up on each other which then linger into a cohesive composition. It is far deeper and much more melancholic than Jules, showcasing the diversity in Hubert Kirchner's developing sound. Further down the track an urge rises to free some of the built up energy. After the break the bass takes over with the melody only subtly remaining in the background.
Applescal remixed Jules and added his some personal mystique. His version is almost an original of its own: much deeper and almost hypnotizing, perfect as the opening track of a night or during a never-ending afterhour.
Hubert's studio buddy Zwaan stepped in to remix MSTRDM. Musically his and Hubert's sounds fit perfectly and Zwaan is showing some big steps in his music production with this remix. He set the track to his hands by adding new elements and more energy while keeping its composition spherical.
