DESCRIPTION:
There was no budget, just enough to pay for the location. But it was a huge opportunity to work with a very talented choreographer, Nick Gonzalez. The morning of the shoot as I was getting the gear into the car, I get a phone call. It's Nick and he tells me all 25 dancers who have traveled from all over the world are standing in an alley way. The location manager has changed his mind and has locked everyone out. But Nick being Nick makes a few phone calls and no later then 15 minutes we had a new location. Only I've never seen the location. As a director, protocol is you scout, you storyboard and you prep for the set. Well I guess sometimes life doesn't give a shit about protocol. So I drove from the comfort of Santa Monica to an unknown location in Downtown LA. As I arrived there must have been close to 45 people standing outside. Dancers, parents, producers, some crew. All these people waiting and I had no plan, no preparation and just under 10 hours to shoot 5 routines with 2 DSLRs. I took a deep breath, smiled at Nick and said lets go.

A big thank you to Nick and his coordinating choreographers and all the dancers for being prepared and making this possible. My lovely girlfriend Sarah that DPed her first shoot. And of course the location Zynderia Productions, that said yes the morning of.
