WELCOME TO THE UPPAH SOUTH This is the drive through region of the east coast. Whether you were traveling north or south this area has been known only as your pit stop between destinations. To most it served as a lost region.



With no identity this area had begin to search for a sound to separate itself. Hoping someone would do more than say its name, but give it a reason to exist. Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, and Suffolk (better known as Slum City) all make the headquarters for hip hops newest region. Smothered in black and white flags the seven cities of Virginia have accepted its regions movement in rightfully claiming its crown.



Their state cousins Maryland, West Virginia, and D.C. have begin to grow the same interest in taking this industry by storm. Unapologetic and refusing to ask for anything they feel is theirs to own, they have given us no choice but to accept them. May it be the northern flare of the east coast or the crunkness of its southern states this region shares the likeness of both.



They watched Tupac lead soldiers in the west coast and Notorious B.I.G. reconstruct New York. They saw T.I. crown himself in the south and heard the slow sound of Texas spread across the nation. Not being involved in the territorial claim they were silent, spending time observing anticipating the moment. Now their black and white flag stands high as a sign of victory and independence.



Replacing the stars of our American flag with the letters U.S. to inform those amongst them exactly who they represent. This is their dictatorship, their democracy. They have refused to allow anyone to control the territory theyve fought to protect. And for the first time in history they give us the honor of exploring a land most are unable to bare foot on. I give to you that same privilege, the privilege of meeting the founders of this unknown region The Uppah South.



Marv - N - Cash captivate their listeners and reconstruct the sound of southern music. Their eclectic style represents Virginia in a way that no artists have. Hailing from the state of Virginia, a state with no official musical identity or sound, gives them the versatility to explore different genres of music. This has resulted in their ability to please a larger audience. Virginia is a melting pot for music and Marv. - N - Cash are a product of their environment. Theyve become the frontline of Virginia and the start of the Uppah South movement.



Whether it is the southern feel of Cassious Klay or the northern flare of Kid Marv. the two brothers compliment one another perfectly. Their VA slang and lyrics create vivid images of Suffolk aka Slum City which makes listeners feel as though theyve spent every moment standing next to them living the experience. With songs like Do the Damn Thang, they remind us that although Virginia isnt the dirty its the south they know, the Uppah South. The combination of smooth melodies and strong percussion provided by well known Virginia producer Kirby, of Kirb Music, not only helped to create a strong buzz for the duo but gave them their overdue respect as southern artist. And while songs like Pimp and Club Music take us directly from the bar to rush any clubs dance floor. 2 NIGHT shows a more personal and intimate side of the duo reminding us theres a difference between a one night stand and a companion.



With Virginia being as diverse as it is, Marv. -N- Cash reflect this flawlessly in their music. Their identity is far from one look and their music has yet to isolate itself to one sound or audience. This is art, and the picture painted has been created for the eyes of this world to capture. Love or hate them, either way youll know them. That is a promise.



Driving through Virginias seven cities you cant help but to notice on every building, light pole, or store window the flag of Uppah South. Not to mention that every other car driving pass is either playing Q.U.-Ill, Vilian, Dirty Harry, or Uppah Souths frontline artist Marv -N- Cash. An hour into the Hampton Roads area of Virginia we immediately begin to see whos in control of its music scene.

Whether it was welcoming main stream artist into their V.I.P. events or showcasing their own talent Uppah South has made the music business take note. I had to find a team willing to grind just as hard as I do, if not harder. A nigga can call shots all day. What count is who follows the shots he calling Carlos explains.

Still in the seven cities we end up at Mitchells. A well known tuxedo store. Not a place you find your everyday hood residents. This aint freestyles in the park no more. The music industry is a billion dollar business, I like to dress for the job you feel me.

What started as a small promoter running a promotion company from his home has now grown into a movement no one can denie. From D.C., West Virginia, Maryland, to Virginia this region has yet to be represented in the proper way until now. Until Carlos Bailey, CEO of Uppah South Management Group, formed a vision and blueprint for others to follow.

Dont get me wrong money respect money. Im glad to see other regions take music as a whole where it is today, Im just trying to contribute to it. We doing the same thing they doing, its my job to make them realize it says Carlos.

With the assistants of Uppah South, Carlos Bailey has put several artists from his region in a position of power. Providing the proper resources, tools, and marketing the artist affiliated with Uppah South have independently sold anywhere from 20 to 30 thousand units per album. Look, Uppah South is a movement. They can either get wit it or get left behind.



Phones ringing, text messages, reading e-mails, overseeing joint ventures, looking over faxes, conference calls, welcome to the life of Uppah Souths CMO Otniel O. Pizzel Pichardo. The vision of Uppah South is created by its CEO and its Otniels job to make sure it happens. His dedication and work ethic has help ensure the movement of Uppah South continues to expand.

I never sleep man. For example, I went to LA not to long ago for a break and hang out with my man . That break led to me being out there for started working and building a market for Uppah Souths artists.

Im responsible for the companys marketing and promotion of each artist and our joint business ventures. Outside of the company he is CEO of Pretty Girls Club model agency, and Co-owner of Last Laugh Productions. Otniel also executive produces the upcoming DVD and television show Your Neck of the Woods, hosted by Uppah Souths Cassious Klay. If thats not enough he has also begin to host a stream of mix tapes to further the promotion of Uppah South, and has currently working a deal for Uppah Souths INDASTRE Apparel coming to retail stores soon.

Its a movement man. I tattooed on my chest fear no evil for a reason. I promise myself that Ill do anything in my power to see this happen without letting anything or anybody stops it. Otniels work ethic speaks for itself. He heads the companys Florida office and oversees the marketing and promotion teams of Orlando, Miami, and Atlanta.

The life of Otniel O. Pizzel Pichardo is one without rest or sleep. This type of dedication and drive is rare. Then again so is Uppah South. Its talent and uniqueness requires representatives who have no room for failure. Who else could possibly do this job other than Otniel Pichardo, better known as O.PIZZEL
