I hadn't really learned this song properly at all and this was just my second "play through" - I was trying to make it sound a bit spooky and rushing it out in response to this one on Ukulele Cosmos. I was listening to it late at night, sitting in the dark, and it nearly made me jump out of my skin at one point! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUb2_ffeupk Probably because I had watched this one not long before - a very wild interpretation. To get the sort of "film noir" effect I was hoping for, this is picked on an old Harmony Baritone Ukulele that Kevin Parsons restored from "been sat on" state (not by me!) and strung with Guadalupe custom strings for GCEA, so an octave below the usual GCEA (low G} uke tuning. Afraid that you can only just hear the uke so it is not a very good demo of what it sounds like, which is lovely.

I was looking for some old "zombie film trailer" footage to use for the video but then I found "The Big Sleep" and it seemed to work well. Pure serendipity that some of the phrases seem to echo Bacall's typical intonation patterns, often where I sing it wrong, so that was very lucky :-)
