DESCRIPTION:
GOTHIC explores European, Australian and American gothic from medieval to contemporary times. The original composition and arrangements are by Andrée Greenwell (AUS), with stunning motion graphics by Michaela French (UK). GOTHIC premiered at the Reginald Theatre, Seymour Centre, for Vivid NSW 2015. Produced by Andrée Greenwell and Neil Simpson, a Green Room Music production.

With Andrée Greenwell and Julia County - voices, Ewan Foster and Stephanie Zarka - violins, James Eccles - viola, Geoffrey Gartner - cello, David Trumpmanis - electric and bass guitars, live audio processing; and electronics and audio design by Andrée Greenwell and David Trumpmanis.

1. 'Annabel Lee' words by American poet Edgar Allan Poe (1849), music composed by Andrée Greenwell

6. 'Wuthering Heights' words and music by Kate Bush (1976). Bush’s song is inspired by Emily Bronte’s novel (1847), arranged by Andrée Greenwell
7. 'Chosen' words by Maryanne Lynch with Andrée Greenwell, music composed by Andrée Greenwell. Based upon the story of Kirsten Fritzl, who was kept in a cellar beneath her grandfather's house, along with her mother and two of her siblings, for the first 19 years of her life
8. 'Maria Walks Amid the Thorns' German hymn circa 16thC, arranged by Andrée Greenwell, audio by Andrée Greenwell and David Trumpmanis
9. 'Death at the Beach Motel' words by Hugo Race, music composed by Andrée Greenwell. Based upon the death of Australian artist Brett Whitely, who overdosed in a room at the Thirroul Beach Motel, near Wollongong.
10. 'Totentanz' words by Felicity Plunkett, music composed by Andrée Greenwell. Inspired by the German medieval frescoes that depict all men, women and children as equal before death. The excerpt of Franz Liszt’s Totentanz (1838/59) is performed by Greg Kinda.
11. 'Thriller' words and music by Rod Temperton (1983), arranged by Andrée Greenwell
12. 'The Bells' words from the poem by Edgar Allan Poe (1849), music composed by Andrée Greenwell.
13. 'Falling' music composed by Angelo Badalamenti for the theme to the television series (1990), arranged by Andrée Greenwell.
