Tris Imboden started playing the drums at an early age in the typical manner, driving his parents crazy banging on drumsets made of pots and pans. Unable to get into the drum section during junior high school as there were no openings, he was forced to play trumpet for awhile and actually became second chair before there was an opening on the drums. Shortly after graduation from High School he was asked to join a band that already had a record deal. The name of the band was Honk and actually met with some success having a number one record in Hawaii, and touring with the likes of Loggins and Messina, The Beach Boys, and even opening coincidently for Chicago. This all proved to be almost prophetic as he later ended up working with either some of the people from all these bands, or the bands themselves. Tris continued to hone his recording and performing skills with Honk before eventually moving to the Los Angeles area from Orange County, in hope of pursuing a career as a studio musician. This went well and in 1977 he auditioned and was chosen to be the drummer for the Kenny Loggins Band. He played with Kenny until around 1989 with a four year stint with Al Jarreau during the same time period. As a direct result of the exposure he got from having played on the very successful Loggins records such as "This Is It, "Whenever I Call You Friend", "I'm Alright" (from Caddyshack), "Footloose", etc., he became a very popular and one of the first call session drummers in L.A. Also during this period he recorded with the likes of Neil Diamond, Richard Marx, Stanley Clarke, Steve Vai, David Foster, Firefall, Julio Iglesias, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Roger Daltry, Don Felder, Crosby Stills and Nash, and many more. In addition he also performed live with everyone from Al Jarreau, Chaka Kahn, David Sanborn, Bob James, Michael McDonald, Anita Baker, George Duke, Clare Fisher, to the likes of Cock Robin and Dottie West. In 1990 Tris was asked to join the band Chicago and has been a member since that time. He still is active in the recording scene and is now residing in Hawaii on the island of Kauai. Being an avid surfer it is for him truly a dream come true. For a more complete discography please go to Tris Imboden.com or Allmusic.com
