TOWERS OF HANOI "Paranoia for the New Year " Out Now!

Available Online at No Idea Records

AvailableLocally at Wayward Council, and Hyde n Zekes! “Paranoia for the New Year,” the latest offering from Gainesville's Towers of Hanoi, is a big dose of rock and roll, packed with massive beats, huge riffs and powerful female vocals that threaten to bring the whole world down. It's independent rock with an emphasis on the rock. Travis Whitton's guitar and Rachel Whitton's vocals compliment each other perfectly. The diverse riffs and melodies intertwine, diving and curling around each other like powerful currents rising up from the ocean floor. Jason Day's razor-sharp bass attack and Jon Reinertsen's driving drumbeats complete the sound, giving the songs a rumbling intensity that threatens to explode at any given moment. The tracks on “Paranoia for the New Year” show Towers' growth as songwriters and musicians. Songs like the title track climb to epic proportions, building up and backing off in just the right places. Travis takes on the role of both lead and rhythm guitar player, contributing to Towers' tension-building sound that consists of melodic leads giving way to driving rhythms. Rachel's voice is undeniably one of the most powerful in rock and roll, male or female. Her melodies evoke the feeling of a rollercoaster climbing to the top of the first drop, before plummeting straight down, the bottom of your stomach dropping out before swooping back up to do it all over again. - Matt Walker
