SHAZZ'S BIOGRAPHY

There are many who have God given talents and decide not to use them to their full capability. This is definitely not the trend that Sharon Thoithi a.k.a Shazz adheres to. Music to her is a passion that is inborn and believes me no matter how much one tries, it cannot be ignored.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa, but raised in Nyeri town for most of her life, Shazz began singing at a very tender age. She always looked up to her sister Wachera who is also a solo artiste. She went to St.Francis high school where she was actively involved in Drama and music festivals. She also loved singing at church where she was also actively involved in dances and concerts that took place there. Her parents, Brothers( Kim and Machira) and her sisters( Wambui and Wachera) have always encouraged her and without them having believed in her, she says that she would have probably given up a long time ago due to the harsh realities that one has to face once involved in the music industry.

She moved to the states in 2004 and moved to Irving, Texas where she met Qstick and formed the group totally Kenyan. Even though the group was short-lived, it helped her realize that the journey to the top was not going to be an easy one. There is nothing was given to her on a silver platter, she had to face criticism and deal with people who ended up not being genuine. But what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger because she later released the song “niaje” together with Franky P which was very well received by the Kenyan community here in the states and also back home in Kenyan and “Kenyan Style” which featured her former partner Q-stick which was undoubtedly a club banger. .

Her main genre of focus is whatever she comes up with. From Genge to hip-hop to rock. She is a fan of them all and loves blending them together to see what the outcome will be. She also produces her own beats and intends ing her own record label very soon. She raps, sings and produces and believes that in order to succeed in this industry, one has to be mentally and emotionally prepared for the hardship ahead. She is not afraid to air her opinion on issues because she says that people want to listen to music that they can relate to and connect with. She mainly focuses on Kenyan music because she is proud of her heritage and firmly believes that Kenyan artistes are really talented even though they do not get the recognition they deserve. Despite the fact that she is no longer in the duo Totally Kenyan, she intends to keep her music “Totally Kenyan” reppin the 254 to the fullest because ukweli, there’s no place like home.
