This wonderful song was originally sung by Vittorio De Sica in the film. Many singers have interpreted it since, and Tino Rossi's is one of the less pretentious and most eloquent and pleasing presentations. Contrast this with the more formal and unreal versions by certain opera personalities!

The beautiful woman pictured in this video is actress Lilia Vetti who became Rossi's second, and life-long wife.

The song was later featured in a French film with French Lyrics and has its own interesting history.
