From Wikipedia:
"Fox on the Run" is a song with lyrics by Tony Hazzard, first recorded by the English band Manfred Mann as a single issued 29 November 1968, which reached number 5 in the UK pop charts in the following month.

It was introduced to bluegrass by Bill Emerson and quickly became a bluegrass favorite.

This is a video of the band I was in, Random Roads http://www.myspace.com/randomroadsband , performing the bluegrass classic Fox on the Run, at Bradley Park in Mississauga.

Fox On the Run
Tony Hazzard

Acapella (CHORUS):

G D Am7 C
She walks through the corn leading down to the river
Am D C G
Her hair shone like gold in the hot mornin' sun

All Instruments and voices follow in:

G D Am7 C
She took all the love that a poor boy could give her
Am D C G
And left me to die like a fox on the run
C G
Like a fox, (like a fox, like a fox) on the run

Lead Vocal:

C G D G
Well everybody knows the reason for the fall
C G A7 D
When woman tempted man in Paradise's hall
C G D G
Now this woman tempted me and took me for a ride
C G D G
Like a lonely fox I need a place to hide

CHORUS

BREAK

CHORUS

C G D G
Now we'll lift a glass of wine and fortify our souls
C G A7 D
And talk about the weather and the friends we used to know
C G D G
Now I see strings of girls that'll put you on the floor
C G D G
Hell, the game is nearly over the hounds are at my door

ACAPELLA
She walks through the corn leading down to the river
Her hair shone like gold in the hot mornin' sun
She took all the love that a poor boy could give her
And left me to die like a fox on the run
