Following the success of the first two volumes, Instinct Records distributed a third edition in their Original Raw Soul series of sweaty vintage soul grooves. Unlike the previous volumes which featured contemporary artists creating authentic-sounding '70s funk, Even More Original Raw Soul pairs these modern artists (Soul Quality Quartet, Up, Bustle and Out) with real soul brothers from back in the day (Tony Cook, Bobby Bird, Push). The collaboration works well, and the music is full of fat party grooves and brassy soul. [Instinct's other volumes in this series include Original Raw Soul in 1996 and More Original Raw Soul in 1998.]
