As the eldest of four brothers, Tom Levin grew up in Sweden (Skåne and Stockholm). He discovered he could sing as an exchange student in Alaska when his host family, after hearing him singing in the shower, encouraged him to join the high school choir. He started writing songs when he lived in Australia and studied at the University of Western Sydney.

When Tom Levin returned to Sweden he formed the band, Tennis, and in 1996 their first single, “Shyway”, reached the top ten on Sweden's biggest radio chart (Sommartoppen). In 2002 he quit his day job, started his own label and released his first solo album, “Saving Grandma”.

With more than 1,000 spins a week, the single, “Just”, from Tom Levin’s second album, “Me, my band that I älskar, Kasper and a bunch of friends”, reached #1 on one of the biggest independent radio charts in the US (New Music Weekly Chart). In 2006, this success on US radio led to Tom Levin winning the New Music Award in the US for “Male Artist of the Year”. Other nominees included John Mayer, James Blunt and Daniel Powter.

In 2011, the album, “Tooth and Claw”, found its way onto several music writers’ seasonal best list. Tom frequently performs in Sweden as well as in the US and recently performed at the Cutting Edge festival in New Orleans and at Canadian Music Week in Toronto. During the fall of 2013 Tom Levin took part in The House of Songs first visit in Sweden. In addition to his own songs, he writes music for other artists and for commercials.

January 29th 2014, Tom released his fifth album "Them Feet" and November 19th he will release his sixth "Them Buffalo". As CD and vinyl they will be released as a double album. Making two records the same year was en unexpected result of the attempt to make an up beat album. - When I wrote the songs to ”Them Feet”, my idea was to make an album with a faster beat compared to previous ones. But when it was completed I realized, in spite of a few more up beat songs than before, that it was a pretty slow album. I immediately decided to have another go. With the help from a metronome, on which I increased the tempo, I embraced the stadium rocker within me and began writing, says Tom.

Some of the songs were written when Tom was involved with the project The House of Songs, where artists from all over the world and different genres, come together to write music. ”Girl From Nova Scotia” is a tribute to Canadian artist Mo Kenney, who attended The House of Songs together with Tom. Other lyric themes are life-long friendship, becoming of age, grandmothers, everyday life as a parent and having discussions about human values with men at car rentals.
