DESCRIPTION:
A light, magical, opera with dance. Based on an Iroquois legend. In the beginning, a bear and a man, Kill Bear, both die. Chief Wife Hunter wants to marry Kill Bear's widow. Hasty Girl intervenes with the help of a magical bird to bring Kill Bear back to life, but she also mistakenly brings the bear back to life switching their heads in the process. All is put right at the end, and Hasty Girl learns to not meddle with nature. Music by Paul Oney Stuart. Libretto by Sally M. Gall. Performed by the Opera Theatre of Rochester, 1996.
