"We’ve always been a bit wary of Scene contributor Seth Graves’ musical ventures. He was, after all, possibly the very first MTSU student to use over-cranked Auto-Tune as an aesthetic device. Back when he was known as Casio Casanova, we thought he was an odd dude from Alabama with an iPod making drum noises. Then, when he formed Tigers Con Queso, we thought he was an odd dude with another odd dude from Kingsport, Tenn., making drum noises. Now he’s got POWERBRRRD, with the aforementioned Kingsportian/Scene photog Steve Cross and oft-maligned Nashville Cream commenter Brandon Jazz, and they just happen to make music that could have come from any advertisement in Maximum Rock N Roll circa 1991 with an East Bay zip code. We get giddy when things sound like J Church. It’s a fact."
