Up over the slates ( original poem ) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 06, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
A little look into my childhood , a sunny afternoon long time ago....
I am the geek far right with the stick :) taken outside our front gate C.1962 .
Words.

A Setterday efternin in July
not a breath of wind
the sky blue as Jekdaws een
sitting in the dirt up the auld field
wi a stick that`s a sword in Zetland street

the soft clack of the bools ahent the big hedge
the players shouts echo and get lost
between the dockens and Craigrie terrace
the twitter o` the swallows as they swoop
at a hunner miles an oor
ower oor heeds

whilst Solomon`s painted Doos
carouse and stravaig ower Farrells roof
switherin wither tae go hame or no...
jist yin o` they summer efternins
when there`s nothing tae dae

a young wummin leans backwards oot a windae
polishing the panes
singin a love song
clear across
her wee wurld

we go oan pokin at the guid earth
causing a big black beetle tae gaun bustling awa
no pleased ower the hills we`ve raised
we leave it be, distracted
by the tinkling bells of Grassos van
somewhaur far away up an ower the slates.....
