Please see below for frontman Paul Simpson's notes on the song. This is the beautiful and fascinating 'Enchanted' - a John Peel session recording performed by Liverpool band The Wild Swans. Taken from the compilation album, 'INCANDESCENT' (1982). LISTEN LOUD.

Paul Simpson - vocals. Jeremy Kelly - guitar. Ged Quinn - keyboards. Baz Hughes - bass. Joe McKechnie - drums.

"Madame Blavatsky on dope. I still can't believe how ambitious this track was for its time. When we turned up at the BBC's Maida Vale studios to record our secong BBC session with just one complete song in 'No Bleeding' and two instrumentals Ged and Jeremy were seriously worried it was going to be a disaster. I hadn't told them that I'd stayed up every night for a week wrestling a melody and lyrics out of the ethers and bending them to fit this curious tune. We'd always take these stupid gambles in the studio bit, thankfully, in this case it worked. Stunning guitar throughout. We were always a little suspicious that The Smiths may have copped Ged's keyboard line on 'Enchanted' for 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out." - Paul Simpson
