Westside Connection Vs. A Tribe Called Quest - Beef Analysis [Full Breakdown] - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 16, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
The beef between A Tribe Called Quest and West Side Connection.

Going 20 years back, the conflict/beef between A Tribe Called Quest and Westside Connection reached it's climax.
The Westside Connection group dissed A Tribe Called Quest member Q-Tip in the song "Cross 'Em Out and Put a 'K" from the "Bow Down" album. A Tribe Called Quest responded the song “Keep It Moving” from the "Beats, Rhymes And Life" album.

On the album "Beats, Rhymes And Life", we find the group tackling a variety of topics including the on-going East Coast/West Coast beef that was enveloping the scene at the time and would eventually end in violent tragedy after the deaths of Tupac and Biggie. On “Keep It Moving,” we find Q-Tip addressing Westside Connection’s Tribe diss “Cross ‘Em Out and Put A K On It” by responding with a message of peace and understanding. A message that would seem especially salient in the wake of imminent tragedy. Beats, Rhymes And Life, can be seen as album that was under-appreciated at the time but has taken its rightful place amongst the best of Tribe’s canon.

Q-Tip has had it up to here with the East/West beef of the nineties and he is saying that there is no need for that. The styles are different, but they are both good and they need to respect one another.

This was also a response to the song “Cross ‘Em out and put a K” by Westside Connection where the group dissed Q-Tip. Q-Tip is basically telling them not to come at him with that nonsense.

In the song "Keeping It Moving," Q-Tip responds to the diss comments made about him on Westside Connection's song "Cross ’Em out and Put a K" by saying that comments made about the West from some time before the album were not intended to diss the west coast and that people should not misinterpret his lyrics.

Lyrics:
Westside Connection - Cross 'Em Out and Put a 'K

[Verse 9: WC]
I once knew this bitch by the name of Q-Tip
Who claim he had a problem with this gangsta shit
Behind closed doors, runnin his mouth like a trick and
Til this nigga bout the name of Dub caught him slippin
Tied his ass up and threw him in the truck
Put an apple in his mouth then dug his ass out
About a month later they found his body stashed
In a trash bag with a cucumber in his ass

A Tribe Called Quest - Keep It Moving

[Verse 1: Q-Tip]
Somethin for your earhole, so you can clean them shits out
It seems that some don't understand what I'm talkin about
How you get West coast nigga, from West coast hater?
I could never dis a whole coast, my time is too greater(true)
Yeah, we from the East, the land of originators
You also from the West, the land of innovators
The only difference of the two is the style of the rap
Plus the musical track, this beef shit is so wack

Westside Connection - Cross 'Em Out and Put a 'K

[Verse 5: Ice Cube]
