The Told Co-founders J.R.Lee, guitarist/vocals/songwriter and Daniel Bruehl guitarist/songwriter met at a concert in Daniel’s hometown of Wallerfangen, Germany. "During the opening group we met thru mutual friends and later the members of my old band decided to invite J.R. to jam with us… it took no time at all before J.R. was singing. We were pretty much blown away, so with no hesitation we asked him to join the band with us." Since that day, the musical relationship has remained dependably loyal. "We have the same exact vision regarding what we love about music," J.R. recalls. “We wanted to give the band a unique sound”. “It’s like taking a mixture of New Metal, Seattle “Grunge” and Tool’s groove. We think it is pretty cool.” “The Told” first took shape in Saarlouis, Germany in the middle of '06. Arising after months of intense song writing came the strong, rich, melodic, and driving Alternative Rock-style that is "The Told“ today. Influenced by a wide-ranging collection of artists such as Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Tool, Pearl Jam, Creed, Dream Theater, The Doors, Sabbath and many others, the band started by releasing an EP originally planned to be a Demo of its material called Inter Vivos. Through self marketing, promotion and well planned concerts helped The Told to sell over 2000 copies of the release. Even without the benefit of support companies, The Told began to establish a reputation. "A lot of it developed by being elusive," Bruehl remembers. "The second song we ever wrote was this 4-minute, unbelievable song called ‘Stop Crying’. And for some reason, the local people took to the song with strong acceptance. We gained this popularity around town, even though no one knew who we were, that we even played in a band or even where to find us". The Told is no longer a secret. Storming onto the scene in late ‘06 with their single, Stop Crying. In its first month, the song was the number 1 most-added track in three formats--Modern Rock, Active Rock and Rock and can now be heard on over 100 radio stations worldwide. The songs theme of Political Injustice hits home with : Why look at them again disgusted / All that they hold in this life, taken for granted / Don't want this anymore / Can we really be saved from self destruction / Stories to be told, the lying, power and greed, so we all suffer / Can anyone stop the crying inside of me? Intensified by the bands mix of hard-charging rock, sharp hooks and soaring vocals makes THE TOLD a must see. Today The Told stands knocking before the door of truth and the brink of being recognized by the music industry as a band to be taken to the top. 1 years since their EP release, over 100 concerts and an earned spot at the BoDog Battle European Finals has found the band demanding and receiving attention from all over the industry. “Ask and you shall receive”, a motto the band has changed to read, “Give all and get all”, meaning that they give everything to ensure that what they do is genuine in order to allow even just that one listener to be left with a no brainier decision – The Told Rocks!! It is exactly that statement from the fan that has driven the band to excel and has given the band belief and hope that the same hard work they willingly give will be given back. Now back in the studio to work on new material, The Told has decided to record their debut album called “Sedated Solace”. In order to really maximize the efforts of the band, The Told has also ran into some luck by being offered a music video shoot from one of the new songs off of “Revelations” at no charge by an independent film maker from Saarbrcken. By releasing a Demo off the album to Booking Companies, Artist Management, Labels, Promoters, Radio and Reviewers has found that what the bands offers is being recognized with approval and great response. In their hometown their songs have been played on radio stations along with live interviews, management companies not just from Germany, but out of America have also been pursuing the band, Labels have been knocking at the door, positive reviews from magazines and online webzines have been printed and just as early as June 2008 the bands song “Sick” off of the Demo has been accepted by Clear Channel music exposing the bands music to a possible 10,000,000 listeners a month and rotation play on over 500 radio stations.
