Lyrics:

Verse 1:
Black Tuesday, a day never forgotten in time.
The day was October 29, 1929.
People rushing to the banks to withdraw all their money.
An economic storm's ahead, when the last decade was sunny.
Businesses forced to cut back pay
And hours too, now they can't work all day.
Looking for work on farms, that was a big factor,
But there were barely any jobs, because they invented the tractor.
Thousands of people applying for the same job,
Even something dumb, like picking corn on the cob.
People feared to move west, cause of the hostile conditions,
Forced to forget about school, they couldn't pay the tuition.
And for all of this trouble, the blame has to go somewhere.
But Hoover can't be blamed for all the stocks and the shares.
Nevertheless, the blame went straight to him.
And the future for this country is looking very grim.

Chorus:
The Stock Market crash was an economic disaster.
Sent us spiraling downwards into a depression faster
Than anything before it.
Impaled, contorted, was the economic state after this crash destroyed it.

Verse 2:
Hoovervilles springing up left and right.
They have no food; have no water, hoping someone might
Save them from their cardboard that is their house.
The government had programs, they helped no one out.
Hoover hooked the people up with jobs, paving the roads,
Hoping they'd fulfill their dreams of a humble abode,
But just like the failed stock market, their dreams were crushed and burnt.
Supportive was his family, but his countrymen weren't.
World War I vets came home to nothing.
The government promised them bonuses, but clearly they were bluffing.
20,000 strong, they marched to D.C.
In hopes to find a compromise to which they'd both agree
So what do we get at the end of this situation?
A country that thought it was the government's obligation.
Poor houses in the cities. No food, no heat.
Veterans and citizens looking on someone to beat.

Chorus: (x2)
The Stock Market crash was an economic disaster.
Sent us spiraling downwards into a depression faster
Than anything before it.
Impaled, contorted, was the economic state after this crash destroyed it.
