DESCRIPTION: Starry Messenger by BJ Brooks. Amarillo Master Chorale under the direction of Dr. Steve Weber. “Siderivs Nvncivs” was a treatise published by Galileo Galilei as a result from history's first magnified observations of celestial bodies. In it Galileo describes, often in understandable wonderment, the features of the moon and satellites of Jupiter. Also serving as inspiration for the work are the writings of Galileo Galilei's father, Vincenzo Galileo. Vincenzo was a notable composer and theorist who wrote detailed studies on acoustics and the vibration of strings. Though "Starry Messenger" is not programmatic, the implications of the celestial subject can be heard throughout the piece. The work is my attempt to grasp the unimaginable vastness of the celestial that lack of time prohibits explanation.
