'Busting Out Tonight' by Bob Bryden with The Saffron Sect - for Mike Shulga - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 16, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
To all friends and acquaintances who lived out the delirious punk and new wave scene in the late 70's and 80's, and in tribute to the main man around Southern Ontario, Mike Shulga who recently passed on, I offer this visual history of the Star Records era. The music is a 'live' version of a song by Christmas which Mike Shulga, late founder of Star Records, loved. This version is recorded 'live' at Sneaky Dee's in Toronto by myself and The Saffron Sect (Gaven Dianda, guitar; Katie Iarocci, keyboards, Matt MacLaren, bass and Jay Anderson, drums). The photographs are by numerous people - including Brian Henley, Richard Chomko, and the recent ones at Star Records, Oshawa, Ontario on Record Store Day 2015 by Al Frank. Thanks to all. The record releases pictured were all on the Star Records label with the exception of the first Forgotten Rebels EP, 'Tomorrow Belongs To Us' which was on the S&M (Steve and Mike) label and 'See This Brick' by myself with was on the L.A. (Limited Availability) label. These records were all produced by myself with the exception of 'F(&k Off 1984/Love Recession' by Benzene Jag which was produced by Keith Whiting and released on the Star label. This track was captured live and mixed by Jordan Abraham.
