The State Merited Chorus of the DPRK marked the 70th anniversary of its founding.
President Kim Il Sung organized an art organization of the army, the predecessor of the State Merited Chorus, on Feb. 22, Juche 36 (1947) as part of building the regular revolutionary armed forces.
Leader Kim Jong Il developed the Chorus into an independent art organization and world-level chorus by providing energetic guidance to it in the whole period of the Songun revolutionary leadership.
The Workers' Party of Korea projected the Chorus as the eldest art organization of the country leading the song of advance in the new century of Juche, engine of the Korean revolution and the biggest national treasure to make it fully display its might and prestige as a world-leading art troupe.
Cherishing intense loyalty and revolutionary soldier spirit, the creators, artistes and leading members of the Chorus have devotedly defended the party and the leader with signal successes in production and creation as befitting the first bugler of the Songun revolution and left clear marks in the history of the WPK's music-based politics.
A meeting was held on Wednesday to mark the 70th anniversary of the State Merited Chorus.
Conveyed at the meeting was a congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the creators, artistes and leading members of the Chorus.
Present there were Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Hwang Pyong So, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and director of the KPA General Political Bureau, and leading members, creators and artistes of the Chorus.
