Algernon

Vibrant, fresh, innovative, compelling and
anointed are expressions often used to describe
the vocal ability and musical presentation
of Algernon. Merging practical life
experiences with spiritual musical messages
connects Algernon to audiences young and
old, saved and unsaved, contemporary and
traditional. With God's favor on his life, Algernon
has emerged from the shadows and
is has been catapulted to the forefront.
Born the third of four children in Los Angeles,
California in musical family young Algernon
was destined to inherit the gift of song.
Algernon's Pentecostal parents (Albert and
Patricia Johnson) were very instrumental
in making sure Algernon studied scripture
and listened only to Gospel music in the family
home. They made certain to instill solid,
Christian values in all their children even if
that meant no secular music was allowed.
Additionally, his father made sure he knew
at least one "spiritual" song for every secular
song he would learn. Algernon's parents
were adamant about making certain all their
children spirit-filled lives. It was not until Algernon's late teenage years that he had the
opportunity to hear Donny Hathaway, Ella
Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin…
all of whom became strong musical influences.
Presently Algernon is in the final phase
of post-production for his forthcoming independent,
untitled debut CD release. His
single, "You Belong to Me" was released in
2009 and has already garnered substantial
radio airplay. Algernon has been interviewed
many times, performed all across the United
States and is gearing up for a number of promotional dates to include festivals, conferences,
television appearances and tours.
As Algernon continues to gain momentum
in the Gospel/Christian music industry he remains
true to his desire of "perfecting" the
gift God has given him. Keep your eyes and

strides and doing great things in Christ.
