Brooks präsentiert aufrichtige, persönliche und moderne Folksongs mit sparsamer Instrumentierung, in denen sich Beobachtungen und Geschichten widerspiegeln, welche eine gewisse Schwäche für literarischen Realismus nicht verbergen können.
