The Mood Swings are a female-fronted fuzzpop band from Minneapolis. Formed in 2004 by guitarists/singers Ashley Ackerson and Sallie Watson, the band writes sharp, catchy tunes with a hard garage edge and a bit of psychedelic mayhem thrown in. The band has released two albums and EP on the Susstones label, and they've been blowing minds and speakers with their live show around the Midwest. Ashley and Sallie, along with bassist Ed Ackerson and drummer Mike Reiter, are taking garage pop in their own direction, using whatever means necessary to leave a groovy ring in the ears of the listener.

The Mood Swings new record, Recessionista, was released this past November! The St. Paul Pioneer Press had this to say about the record "Despite the particularly timely name of its third album, this female-fronted group makes rich, crunchy rock songs that sound like they were honed in a big-budget studio. That's a compliment. Tracks like 'Crush' and 'Generation Y' are as radio-friendly as anything coming from the major labels. The Mood Swings also threw in a pair of obscure covers for fellow record-collector nerds: 'It's a Cryin' Shame' (by Texas garage-rock band the Gentlemen) and 'It's So Easy' (a Hawkwind b-side)."
