The Last Mad Dash

I remember how we solved the problems of the world
You told me that if we divide all the fame in the world
On the number of people in the world
Everyone will get fifteen minutes each
We sure had our way to teach justice to the world
But one man is the law,
'cause we attacked like a pack of wolves whose hearts just stopped
One man's got to take it all
and that's a fact, our skulls were cracked and then our jaws just dropped

I still sometimes see a spark in the creek of your eye
Quite a few times it's the light reflecting in a tear
You said to me in the future we
all got silver faces and pills for food
And burning airlines will replace receding hairlines
That moment we realized
that our dreams of decadence and übermench was one
That moment of silence meant
more to me than the fifteen minutes of fame we got

We emptied our drinks, our bitter-sweet drinks and entered the stage
with our dare-devil stares consuming the fresh-faced, giggling girls,
that stood so expectant and star-struck
while the boys were all transfixed.
The vacuum in the hall from this rise and fall sucked their heads empty.
We gave them plenty. And when the band died in front of them all,
the shockwave came rolling back:
Genuine spontaneous standing ovation.

Is rock and roll the baby of the current apocalypse?
Its supermarket variety makes a full eclipse
How's it gonna come? When's it gonna come?
Have we still got time to be the Dharma Bums?
In the meantime: The Last Mad Dash...the hanged man's hard-on.

Cheers to the Masters of the Nice Touch!
