Alright, now this is just gettin’ fuckin’ bonkers.

MORE Liquids? It’s been, like, two weeks since this group has seen itself up on my channel, and there’s already some brand-spankin-new material for all of us to ogle at. The rate at which Mat is pumping out all this Liquids material is insane; the word “prolific” wouldn’t even begin to cover it. Sure, it’s possible that this is a bunch of old material that was actually written over the course of a few weeks/months, maybe this material wasn’t all written and recorded within the seventeen days that followed the release of his previous tape, “Heart Beats True” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIiSIL85Mtw). But shit, if it turns out that he did, I wouldn’t doubt that for a second. Though, if I were to guess, I’d say that he didn’t: I’m at least aware that both “Dark” and “Sun & Moon” are older songs that are making their big debuts here. This is the first time that “Dark” has been featured outside of a live tape, as it first appeared on The Coneheads’ “Live! with Liquids Time” tape in mid-2015, and in later in the Liquids’ “Live at Mat’s House” tape in late 2015. As for “Sun & Moon”, I was first exposed to a sped-up, poppier rendition of the song on a mixtape made by Mat, which was shared with me a little while ago. On that tape, it was labeled as “Girl in a World of Hate” as opposed to “Sun & Moon”, and all things considered, I think I love this slower take a hell of a lot more.

At this point, I’m genuinely afraid of becoming redundant, considering what few things I can feasibly say on this group that I haven’t already said before. Think about it; the Liquids have been featured on my channel, either directly or indirectly, EIGHT times so far, nine if you count this video. No other band has gotten nearly as much primetime here, that’s fucking insane. I don’t know if that speaks volumes about my obsessive character or Mat’s talent, but either way, I still can’t get enough of his music, regardless of the fact that I’m totally tapped out on new things to say on this Indianan punk group. I certainly don’t need to be the one telling you that Mat’s music is fucking incredible, just jam this puppy and love this emotional discharge for what it is. Ignore the fact that it’s the same guy sharing all of the Liquids stuff on his channel; Mat says that he’s alright with me broadcasting his material anyways, so it’s not like I’m going around someone’s back to be a lil’ creepozoid fan-boy here, alright? I like sharing cool music, and it just so happens that the Liquids makes a lot of cool music. What the hell else do you want me to say, huh?

Anyways, I’m not so sure on the history behind this tape. And yes, it is in fact an actual tape: yesterday afternoon, when I first caught that release on the Liquids’ Bandcamp page (the same day that it was released), the page said nothing about there being a physical release—or anything information, really. Just that it was released on September 1st. As far as I could tell, “Evil” was just a collection of tracks released online, since the attached art wasn’t even in a j-card format. But at some point this afternoon, it seems that Mat’s gone and changed the artwork to something that’d actually fit in a cassette case (which is the image that’s used in the video right now. That’s why this video was delayed by a few hours, as I had to re-render the entire thing so it would feature the new artwork, as opposed to the old one:. So these babies are either dubbed or soon-to-be dubbed onto tapes for y’all to enjoy; assuming that you're willing to pay, I suppose. Music may be free, but these hunks of plastic cost money; what, you think plastic grows on trees or something?
