The Limeybirds ~ "Three Little Sisters" ~ 2011 Florida Renaissance Festival - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 20, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
The Limeybirds perform a tribute to our men and women in uniform with the song "3 Little Sisters". Faith, Charity, and Bunnie give us a wonderful harmony reminiscent of the Andrews Sisters. Filmed live at the Pirate Pub Sing of the 2011 Florida Renaissance Festival in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

"3 Little Sisters" was one of the signature songs of the Andrews Sisters during and after WWII, along with "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". Both these songs are considered early examples of the transition from Boogie-Woogie to Jump Blues.

"3 Little Sisters" hit # 8 on the charts in 1942. Numerous versions of "3 Little Sisters" have been done by various artists over the years, but this version by the Limeybirds really seems to harken back to the original.

Lyrics to "3 Little Sisters":

There were three little sisters
Three little sisters
And each one only in her teens
One loved a soldier
One loved a sailor
And one loved a lad from the marines

For the three little sisters
They were the fairest
From Iceland to the Philippines
So said the soldier
So said the sailor
And so said the lad from the marines

And when the boys marched away
The girls said they'd be true until
The boys came back someday

Now the three little sisters
Three little sisters
Stay home and read their magazines
You can tell it to the soldier
Tell it to the sailor
And tell it to the marine

(scat singing)

Three little sisters,
Three little sisters
And each one's only in her teens (ah-h-h-h)
One loved a soldier
One loved a sailor
And one loved a lad from the marines

For the three little sisters
They were the fairest
From Iceland to the Philippines
So said the soldier
So said the sailor
And so said the lad from the marines

And when the boys marched away
The girls said they'd be true until
The boys marched back someday

Now, the three little sisters
The three little sisters
Stay home, home and read their magazines
You can tell it to the soldier
Tell it to the sailor,
and tell it (Hoo-ah!) to the marine
