DESCRIPTION:
This is part of the Forbidden Island's ongoing indie band series. Sunday evening on March 21, 2010 "the Island" featured Oakland's very own
1950's/ indie rock sweethearts "The Hot Toddies" who, played to a packed house at Forbidden Island and, what a show it was too! The audience went simply bananas over them!

Everybody seems to LOVE these girls sound and style which made for a great atmosphere, that and the magical tropical/Tiki drinks which the Forbidden Island is known for were brimming all evening! These girls are to talented and too cute for words what a fantastic show, I am sure we'll see them again soon at F.I.!

The Hot Toddies are:

Heidi Bodeson - bass, guitar, vocals
Erin Skidmore - guitar, bass, vocals
Jessica Wright - keyboard, vocals
Sylvia Hurtado - drums


I had a pleasure shooting this wonderful girl band with a single HD camera, Cinéma Vérité style sort of a run and gun technique.

Note: This is by far not my best camera work, I had to shoot the band from behind the bar and had to contend with not only patrons of the bar but, drinks, blenders, bartenders, bar-backs and waitresses. All of this and to top it all off it was an extremely busy evening at F.I. too! Fortunately, we all worked together and around each other to make this video happen. At one point I was physically up on top of the bar knocking over drinks just to get this shoot! I hope to do a really kick-ass music video for them in the future!
