Some wonder if The Hotel Lobbyists are promoting their tour with enthusiasm, or just enthusiastically promoting tourism. The profuse fusion and confusion of Art, Culture, Rebellion and Agenda has led many to describe today’s rock and roll scene as ironic, though many describe it as quite the opposite. As meaning and truth is lost in a swirl of time and key signatures loosely scattered along dotted lines, there comes a time when a rag tag militia of bandits would inevitably step forward through the aftermath to fight for liberty, equality, and affordable short term overnight accommodation. The apparent uncertainty of the words we use in this post-everything era has led many to redefine their thoughts, ideals and beliefs in sound form. The five seemingly normal individuals who comprise the Hotel Lobbyists play a rock and roll that is fresh, energetic and loud and has a tendency to excite crowds into a raucous frenzy. Art may be dead or it may just be sleeping, but either way someone still has to serenade the wake.

Recent Press:

The Hotel Lobbyists are from parts unknown. The parts I do know however are fun and shit kicking. Not shit kicking like Granville Street on a late Friday night, but shit kicking like an early, hung over Sunday morning at your best bud’s house, a little baked and still drunk from the night before shit kicking. They have had a few line-up changes in the past, but it hasn’t effected their catchy, low res rock ‘n’ roll. These four gents are the funniest bunch you will ever have the pleasure of touring, watching and wrestling naked with (I have done all three - thanks Jordie). Their songs are singalong and hand clapping friendly, so when you see them this early November for the Fest O’ Guns, feel free to do so and maybe, just maybe lose yourself in Yeti’s saintly beard and Jordie’s deep intense green eyes. - Wally from The Nerve Magazine, Nov/07

Billed as 'An Outlaw Rock 'n' Roll Music Festival,' the Festival of Guns promises to deliver more than sixty of Western Canada's best indie rock and pop artists to eleven different venues throughout the city over the next four days. And while music fans may be thinking, "Why Bother?," one need look no further than opening night headliners Hotel Lobbyists to realize the Festival of Guns may have what it takes to make Vancouver music festivals, well, festive again.

Comprised of vocalist and guitar Jim Legacy, drummer Mike Gurr, bassist Jordan Dammet, and guitarist Jordan Isaacs, Hotel Lobbyists attack the rock 'n' roll fantasy with humour and depth that earns them the right to be mentioned in the same breath as Canadian rock forerunners Black Mountain and Ladyhawk.

Their latest release - the brilliant Jurassic Beaver - possesses a spirit and confidence reminiscent of a time when bands like Loverboy and Trooper ruled the charts. But while Hotel Lobbyists have the passion and the chops of these great Canuck acts of days gone by, they have the benefit of having experienced a handful of genres since then, making their sound a far more refined and imaginative than the "Turn Me Loose" era of yesteryear.

Between events such as the Festival of Guns and bands like Hotel Lobbyists, hope may be restored to the Vancouver music scene yet. - RC Joseph From 24hrs News Paper, Nov. 15 2007

Once the Hotel Lobbyists took the stage with their trademark brand of indie psych-rock, the show recovered rapidly. They went through their set, tight as fuck and with a synergy most would envy. It’s also nice to see a band that’s not afraid to rock out, but doesn’t overdo it.
