Merseybeat group The Hideaways performing "Little Piece of Leather" at the Liverpool Mathew Street Music Festival August Bank Holiday 2009. Coming together as a band for the first time in over 40 years after their many performances at The Cavern and other local venues in the 60's.
It all started in 1993 in a single street, Mathew Street, home of the Cavern, as a small event designed to celebrate Liverpool's music and bands. The annual August Bank holiday Mathew Street Festival has grown to become not only the city's largest annual event, but the biggest free music festival in Europe with six outdoor live stages over the two days.
