His twenty-sixth number one hit single was the fifth song George Strait played on his final Astrodome appearance. "Heartland", the opening track of his 1992 "Pure Country" soundtrack album, was written by Steve Dorff and John Bettis. (Ten years later it still brought a crowd to its feet - heck, twenty years later it's still doing that!)
