Acoustic Classic Guitar String Height String Action Fret Buzz - Video

DESCRIPTION:
How to measure the distance between fret and string on a classical guitar and how to interpret the results.
Classical guitars normally don't allow for fretboard bow adjustment. What can be done is, to fit a new bridge saddle and a new fretboard nut. They are made of bone (or plastic) and can be easily modified.
.
The distance between the top of the fret wire and the bottom of the string is called "String Action".
The measuring wedge shown in the video is made of bone (by a luthier) and costs only a few Dollars. You can measure within 0,05 mm accuracy with it. Hard to measure that precise with a conventional string action gauge where you have to look from the side underneath the string.
.
Nut string height or string action can be measured with cheap but precise feeler gauges.
Industrial made guitars usually have a much too large nut and 12th fret string action which makes guitars hard to play for beginners and causes bad tuning pitch on the lower frets. You have to adapt any new guitar to your playing style.
The salesman will not tell you about that. They simply don't know.
