DESCRIPTION:
'Far Away Places' - jazz piano tutorial. I have always liked this song with its lovely lyrics. I tried to play it very simply - just some minor adjustments to the chords. I did it some time ago, and recorded it as a midi file which enabled me to derive the notation and keyboard view on this video. It was improvised from a simple leadsheet, and has some not-so-good choices of notes in places.
I played the song very freely in time, and I have used some impressionistic devices that seem to fit the languid mood of the song - fourth chord voicings, whole tone scales, etc.
I will put the video on my website, and add the video and a printable transcription to my instructional DVD. It can also be purchased as a separate transcription for $1.20. Details are on my website -
