No other band embodied the raw essence of Antipodean rock'n'roll more than Australia's the Easybeats. Poor and marginalised immigrant kids from temporary housing shelters outside Sydney, the Easybeats made music like their lives depended on it. Sensational teenage singer Stevie Wright was light years ahead of his time, possibly the most engaging and explosive frontman to ever take the stage. Add in the songwriting brilliance of Vanda/Young which saw its genesis in the hardscrabble beginnings of Australia's greatest 60's band. With musicality and sheer energy to rival the Who and the Small Faces, daylight separated the Easybeats from their contemporaries. Like shooting stars, the Easybeats burned spectacularly bright and then were gone....all rights respectfully belong to respective rights-holders.
