this is The Dude, from J. Rockett Audio Designs. The Dude is a highly versatile overdrive that employs several innovative controls in series, with the ultimate goal of approximating a real tonal holy grail.. The process began by dissecting a vintage “Special” amplifier and really digging into the nuts and bolts of Mr. D’s handiwork. Four knobs adorn The Dude, and of these four, three controls are unique to The Dude. The requisite Volume control is actually a clean boost circuit, and the Deep control introduces growling lower mids for a great rhythmic chunk. Finally, the Ratio control really ties the pedal together, as it controls a balance of a separate boost circuit and sweet, creamy D-style overdrive. This control is independent of the Volume knob, so rolling the Ratio back and the Volume up delivers two boosts in series for amp sweating breakup. Turning the Ratio up simulates a punished D-style amp, as the remainder of the Ratio control pushes it. Like all Rockett pedals, The Dude is hand made in with primo components and an eye for detail.
