With songs intoxicated by tortured emotion, The Doggers embody a fleeting meld of blues, punk and rock ‘n roll focusing on strong rythym and reflective lyrics. This garage-rock band from Columbus,Ohio, intrigues their fans with their raucous mix of anguished vocals and belligerant beats. “Hand in the fire, don’t pull it away, don’t show the pain”, from their song “Hate Me More”, expresses the twisted and metaphorical approach found in many of their songs.

The Doggers are gearing up to release their first self-titled EP in July 2009. You can clearly hear infulences of bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, The Toadies and The White Stripes. In July, they will appear at Skully’s and will hit the road again in August.

This maddened three piece consists of founding members and brothers Josh (guitar/vocals) and Jeremy (bass/vocals) Hatfield. Drummer Phil Justice joined the band in 2008. Formed in 2004, they draw their name from “dogging”, a British slang closely associated with voyeurism or exhibitionism.

Expose yourself to The Doggers at Skully’s on July 24!
